This is a gold brooch likely dating to the first half of the 20th century, potentially imported from China or Hong Kong, which was then a British colony, to the United Kingdom. The brooch features two circular elements flanking a central heart-shaped motif. From left to right, the design includes Chinese characters with auspicious meanings: “貴” (wealth and nobility), “財” (abbreviation for wealth), and “丁” (symbolising prosperity in descendants).
On the reverse side of the heart-shaped motif, the upper right corner features an English hallmark, “KHD”, while the lower right corner displays vertically inscribed Chinese characters, “扶造” (indicating the maker). In the lower left corner, the number “18” signifies that the brooch is made of 18-carat gold.
