This is a medal established in AD 1882 to recognise the British Army and Navy personnel who participated in the Anglo-Egyptian War of that year, a conflict aimed at safeguarding British interests in the Suez Canal. Following its victory, Britain solidified its dominance over Egypt and took over Egypt’s unfinished campaign to subdue Sudan. This miniature version of the Egypt Medal is a second type, specifically awarded to those who participated in the Sudan campaigns between AD 1884 and AD 1889.

The medal is circular in shape, with the obverse featuring a left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria. This depiction reflects her appearance following the death of her husband, Prince Albert, in AD 1861, during which she adopted the image of mourning, often seen wearing black and veiled attire. Surrounding the portrait is the Latin inscription “VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX” (Victoria, Queen and Empress).

The reverse of the medal features a left-facing silhouette of the Great Sphinx of Giza, one of the wonders of the ancient world. Above the Sphinx is the inscription “EGYPT” in English. The primary distinction between the first type, issued in AD 1882, and the second type, reissued in AD 1884, lies in whether the year “1882” is engraved along the lower edge beneath the Sphinx.

At the top of the medal is a swivel scroll suspension that connects it to the ribbon. The ribbon features a blue background with two white stripes. Attached to the ribbon are a total of thirteen clasps, issued by the government to commemorate specific engagements in the Anglo-Egyptian War and the Sudan campaigns. The clasps are as follows:

獎章外觀為圓形，正面是公元1861年面臨夫婿阿爾伯特親王病逝的衝擊，自此以黑衣和蒙頭形象見於世人的維多利亞女王左側肖像，肖像左右兩側以拉丁銘文標示「VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX」(維多利亞女王暨女皇)。

獎章背面是古埃及留下的世界奇觀，即人面獅身像的左側剪影，人面獅身像的上方以英文標示「EGYPT」(埃及)。公元1882年頒布的第一型和公元1884年再版的第二型彼此最大的差距是，於人面獅身像下緣是否有鐫刻年份「1882」。

獎章的頂端以螺旋式懸掛銜接綬帶，綬帶配色為藍底搭配兩道白色色條，上面掛滿政府為英埃戰爭和英蘇戰爭兩場衝突設置之總計十三枚銘條，如下：
