This is a 1-peso silver coin issued in AD 1862 by the United States of Colombia. The “United States of Colombia” was the official name adopted by Colombia between AD 1863 and AD 1886, covering the territory of present-day Colombia and Panama, the latter of which gained independence in AD 1903.

The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the United States of Colombia, with a shield divided into three sections. The upper section contains a pomegranate, flanked by two cornucopias, symbolising prosperity. In the centre is a Phrygian cap raised on a spear, signifying liberty, while the lower section depicts two sailing ships, separated by the narrow isthmus of Central America, representing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

The shield is adorned on both sides with national flags, and at the top, an Andean condor holds a ribbon inscribed with the national motto “LIBERTAD Y ORDEN” (Liberty and Order). The base of the coat of arms is decorated with nine eight-pointed stars, and the surrounding inscription reads “ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA” (United States of Colombia).

The reverse of the coin features the denomination “UNO PESO” (1 Peso) and the issuance year “1862” at the centre, flanked by laurel wreaths. Surrounding the wreaths, on each side, is a staff emblem, with the lower edge inscribed with the silver content “LEI 0,900” (0.900 pure silver), and the upper edge bearing the name of the capital, “BOGOTA”. The edge of the coin also bears the inscription “DIOS LEI LIBERTAD,” which translates to “God, Law, and Liberty.”

錢幣正面為哥倫比亞合眾國國徽，一面分為三等份的盾牌，上半部是左右被兩個豐裕之角圍繞的石榴標記，中間是一頂被矛高高挑起象徵自由的佛里幾亞無邊便帽，下方則是被中美洲地狹分割為二，在大西洋和太平洋航行的兩艘帆船。盾牌兩側以國旗作為裝飾，頂端有一隻叼著綬帶展開雙翼的安地斯神鷲，綬帶上方鐫刻哥倫比亞的國家格言「LIBERTAD Y ORDEN」(自由與秩序)。國徽下緣有九枚八芒星裝飾，周圍則是以西班牙文標示的國名「ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA」(哥倫比亞合眾國)。

錢幣背面的中央為面額「UNO PESO」(1披索) 和發行年份「1862」，兩側為打結的月桂花環裝飾。花環外圍的左右兩側各有一枚權杖圖騰，下緣標示含銀量「LEI 0,900」(0.900純銀)，上緣則是首都波哥大「BOGOTA」。錢幣側邊亦有銘文「DIOS LEI LIBERTAD」意思是「上帝、法律和自由」。
