This is a 5-mace silver salary issued during the nearly one-year tenure of Wang Shunan as the Financial Commissioner of Xinjiang Province, from June of Guangxu 33 (AD 1907) to July of the following year. The coin was minted to address the issue of military payroll for the stationed troops in Xinjiang.

Both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin are encircled by a beaded border. At the centre of the obverse side, a five-clawed coiled dragon is depicted, exhaling a flaming pearl.

At the centre of the reverse, the Chinese characters “餉銀五錢” (silver salary 5 mace) are inscribed sequentially in the order of top, bottom, right, and left. Beyond the beaded border, following the same directional order, Chagatai script inscriptions correspond to the Chinese text: “ين صی” (salary), “كموش” (silver), “پەش” (five), and “مىشقا” (mace).

In May of Guangxu 33 (AD 1907), Wang Shunan submitted a petition to establish the Shuimogou Machinery Bureau in the provincial capital, Dihua (modern-day Ürümqi). One month later, large-scale coin production officially commenced. The military payroll silver minted under Wang Shunan included five denominations: 1 sar, 5 mace, 4 mace, 2 mace, and 1 mace. Among these, the 1 sar and 5 mace coins were produced in the greatest quantities. The 5-mace denomination exhibits the most complex variety of designs, with notable differences in decorative motifs such as floral patterns and bat imagery.

這是光緒33年 (公元1907年) 6月至隔年7月接近一年的時間內，王樹枏擔任主管新疆省財務的布政司期間，為了解決新疆駐軍軍餉發行之面額五錢銀幣。

錢幣正反兩面皆有一道珠圈環繞，錢幣正面的中央有一條吐出火球的五爪蟠龍。

背面的中央按照上、下、右、左的順序，依序以漢字標示「餉銀五錢」四字。珠圈的外圍同樣按照上、下、右、左順序，分別以察合台文標示：「ين صی」(餉)、「كموش」(銀)、「پەش」(五) 和 「مىشقا」(錢)。

光緒33年(公元1907年) 5月，王樹枏奏請在省會迪化(烏魯木齊) 成立水磨溝機器局，並且於一個月後正式投入錢幣的量產。王樹枏鑄造的餉銀有：一兩、五錢、四錢、二錢和一錢，總計五種面額。上述面額以一兩和五錢的數量占多數，其中五錢的版型最為複雜，主要有花飾和蝙蝠等圖騰不同的差異。
