This is a silver coin issued in AD 1962 by the Netherlands Antilles, a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands located in the Caribbean. The coin carries a denomination of ¼ Dutch Guilder.

The obverse of the coin features a right-facing portrait of Queen Juliana, who was the reigning monarch of the Netherlands at the time. Surrounding the portrait is the Dutch inscription “JULIANA KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN” (Juliana, Queen of the Netherlands). The reverse displays the denomination “¼ G” prominently at the centre, encircled by the inscription “NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN” (Netherlands Antilles).

At the bottom of the reverse, the year of issue “1962” is flanked by two symbols: on one side, a trout representing the personal mint mark of then-chief engraver Jan Willem Arnold van Hengel, and on the other, a caduceus — the staff of Hermes — which serves as the mintmark of the Royal Dutch Mint.

The Netherlands Antilles was established in AD 1954 when the Dutch government consolidated its Caribbean colonial territories into a single administrative entity, forming one of the constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, alongside Suriname (then still under Dutch rule) and the European Netherlands.

In AD 1986, the island of Aruba, seeking greater political autonomy, separated from the Netherlands Antilles to become a distinct country within the Kingdom. Later, in AD 2010, Curaçao also became an independent administrative unit within the Kingdom, effectively marking the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles.

Today, the former territories of the Netherlands Antilles — Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba) — all remain Dutch territories, though each possesses its own degree of self-governance within the constitutional framework of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

荷屬安地列斯是公元1954年，荷蘭政府整合其位於加勒比海的殖民地形成的行政區，與當時仍是荷蘭統治的蘇利南和荷蘭本土共同組成荷蘭王國。公元1986年，構成荷屬安地列斯的阿魯巴島希望獲得更多政治權利而脫離出去。公元2010年，荷屬安地列斯轄下的古拉索島也成為獨立的行政單位，宣告荷屬安地列斯的終結。迄今屬於前荷屬安地列斯的行政區：阿魯巴、古拉索、荷屬聖馬丁和荷蘭加勒比區，皆仍然是荷蘭的領土。
