This is a 10 Cash copper coin minted in Hunan Province during the 8th to 9th year of the Republic of China (AD 1919–1920). Due to a likely operational error during the minting process, the die and planchet were not properly aligned, resulting in a misstrike with an incomplete and misaligned impression—causing the design elements to be noticeably shifted downward.
This coin is known among collectors as the “Double Flag Coin.” The obverse features a solid inner circle containing a stylised rice ear motif commonly referred to as the “Five Grains and Four Leaves” design. Surrounding the solid circle, faint traces of the English inscription “THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA”—denoting the name of the issuing nation—can still be discerned.
The reverse of the coin also features a solid inner circle, within which are depicted the knotted Five-Coloured Flag and the Iron and Blood Eighteen-Star Flag. Above the flags is a decorative motif resembling a twelve-petalled chrysanthemum. The outer edge of the circle is adorned on both sides with floral and foliate patterns. At the top, faint traces of the Chinese inscription for the national name, “中華民國” (“Republic of China”), can still be discerned.
