This is a 10-Cash copper coin minted in the oasis city of Kashgar in southern Xinjiang around AH 1340 (circa AD 1922). At that time, coin production in Xinjiang relied on traditional manual methods supplemented by mechanical assistance, resulting in numerous minor variations within the same coin type.
The overall condition of the coin is fair, though some of the inscriptions and details show signs of wear. On the obverse, there is a beaded circle enclosing the four Chinese characters “民國銅幣” (Republic Copper Coin), arranged in the order top, bottom, right, and left. Outside the beaded circle, the surrounding inscription reads “當紅錢十文” (Valid Red Money, 10 Cash) and “新(疆)省喀什造” (Minted in Kashgar, Xinjiang Province), following a circular arrangement.
The reverse design features a motif commonly seen on Xinjiang coinage during the Republican era: a pair of crossed Five-Coloured Flags with vertical stripes. Above the flags, the space is inscribed vertically in Chagatai script with “ضو ب كاشنو” (“Struck in Kashgar”) and the latter part of the Hijri year, “۴” (4). Below the flags, the inscription includes the first part of the Hijri year, “۱۳” (13), along with the denomination “مس جل اون داچن ليک” (“worth 10 red cash”).
