The net worth of American households and nonprofit organizations increased by $0.2 trillion, reaching $169.4 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2024. Throughout history, approximately 212,582 tonnes of gold have been mined. Assuming the value of one tonne of gold is $100 million, the total worth of all mined gold would be around $21.26 trillion. This means that roughly one-eighth (12.5%) of the net worth of American households and nonprofit organizations could, in theory, purchase all the gold in the world. How incredible is that!
